In my opinion,--Sleepy Lagoon seems to be dragging.  Is it or is my hearing going bad.  I didn't listen to the whole song so maybe it got better.

I don't know Wally, I've rarely heard any faster than Ken's version, the following are the slowest I've heard, but it IS a song after all :-

in the 40s spike jones had a jazzed up version named sleepy the goon.  The name was later used for a character on Rocky and Bullwinkle.  cc

I sometimes wonder if the links I post are EVER clicked upon, or if some of those using the forum actually know how to recognize links that DON'T say "Click Here", my reason for this thought :-
Earlier in this topic I made a remark and posted this link,  Doris Day

There hasn't been one comment about it, and as most of us are musicians, I think anyone playing it would have notice ONE most unusual aspect..

Wally, Congrats.on your upcoming nuptuals, much happiness to you.
No, I do not think your hearing is off or going bad, I understand what you are saying, the fault is mine,  the fact is that,I mixed that Lagoon thing without too much thought, it was done just to fill a piece of blank tape and, as an example, I had only one hearing Aid in the left Ear, the lead was panned left and, split off to the right through a Ecko and Reverb, Ecko was set much too long,a bit high in volume, this gives the impression that it seems to be lagging the rhythm, my apologies for this, maybe sometime I will do it again and not use the Ecko unit and, better still get the other Aid plugged in the right Ear, I do get a bit sloppy at times.
Bas, I note what you say about the DD thing, gets a bit frustrating and gives the feeling that, nobody is bothering to comment, for or against,I will try to find that and say something about it if, it flies in my face, KU

I thought it was damn good considering you were only firing on one cylinder !!
As for the comments about the DD version, Just click on the words Doris Day in the previous post and you'll hear what I mean..
I STILL can't believe no-one has noticed ..

Bas, No problem with you posting that "Sleepy Ufton", think Wally will see the point when he reads my remarks.
I just did click on DD but, I am still asleep and only noticed the ballad type rendition and, had a bit of difficulty with the background harmonies, the Hearing Aide again, I couldn't find the original post so, couldn't relate to the context DD was r
elevant to, you gotta spell it out plainly with me, am doing a full gallup to 90 you know, Ken.

Hi Basil,

I've been practicing your tab of Sleepy Lagoon for several weeks now, (I'm a beginner, it's difficult for me) and I just listened to the Doris Day version you posted. As I try to sing along with Doris the timing seems wrong, like they rewrote the tune to be in 4/4 time, rather than 3/4.

Is that the unusual aspect you referred to?

Anyway, thanks for posting the tab and info on the song, it's an enchanting piece and your tab is forcing me to build my technique.

Yes Keith, you nailed it. The Doris Day version is in 4/4, the ONLY time I've heard it done to that song.

I am quite surprised that more of the musicians amongst us didn't notice that,  as it's a real oddity.
That's why I was querying the clicking of some of my links.

Good luck with the tab, and when you've got it off, post a clip of you playing it in the members audio section.

Perhaps Basil was referring to this vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddNr7rebaQo

I get the "click" part, but not sure about the "clunk." Unless they're talking about my old truck.

Here in South Carolina we have a similar campaign called "Click it or ticket."

My bad, the 'H' was missing from  "HTTP" in the url..
It's corrected now and IS the one Keith posted. as for the Clunk in the video it reffers to the door shutting "Clunk", and the belt clasp locking "Click"
