Special HSGA Waikiki Events Photos - 2009

HSGA sponsored Jerry Byrd Ho’olaule’a in Waikiki 2009
Paul Kim, HSGA President, kicking off the program with some sweet sounding Hawaiian steel guitar.
His backup group was Wayne Shishido, guitar; Isaac Akuna, uke; ?.
Lion Kobayashi did his usual outstanding performance on an Excel Pedal Steel Guitar.
Bobby Ingano is playing his Rickenbacher frypan with exquisite smoothness.
Jeff AuHoy Steel Guitar Mastery
Group backing Jeff, included a Honolulu police officer playing bass who had a fantastic falsetto voice.
Ron Kanahele and his local Hawaiian band.

Here is Ron Whitfield buddying up to the star Ron Kanahele.
HSGA Lei Day Celebration in Kapiolani Park.
The Hawaiian steel guitar was featured and played from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the exhibition area
where the prized leis were being shown. Significant numbers were seated in the tent and adjacent
area to listen but hundreds and hundreds of persons heard as they filed by the lei demonstration which you
can see in the background.

Thanks again for sharing all the great moments and memories here for those of us who couldn't make it. It's interesting and gratifying to see the Japan steel guitar contingent so robust (especially the youngsters). It bodes well I think---
