Jerry Byrd Tabs

Aloha,
a while ago I´ve bought the Jerry Bird instruction course. You can find many excellent tabs in it.
Scotty in St.Louis is selling original Jerry Byrd tabs.
My question is, is there a difference between the tabs in the course book and the ones from Scotty? I guess there is a difference but I´m not sure because of the outstanding qualtily of the course tabs.

Speaking as someone who has the course, and also has bought a considerable number of the arrangements from Scotty, (who is a gentleman and a pleasure to deal with by the way) I would say that although there are a couple of tabs in the course that can be found in the catalog, the arrangements from Scotty are more "in depth" and challenging if you will. I believe that the arrangements in the course are for the most part, written to teach and illustrate whatever tuning or technique you might be working on for that chapter, whereas the arrangements are fully realized, encompassing some pretty advanced playing and some cool harmonic concepts. Oh, and be prepared for lots of modulations!! Seriously, working on these, I have found my technique progressing rapidly. Get as many as you can!!

Mahalo Dave!
That's what I wanted to know.
Will order some JB tabs soon from Scotty. I think I'll start with the few B11 tabs he left.
Is there anything mentioned on the tabs like "as recorded ..."?

Not on the ones that I have. While there are tabs for some of the songs JB recroded, if you listen to the recordings and compare them to the tabs, there are some similarities, but some differences as well. So, not spot on transcriptions, but a good place to start.

Joerg,
Dave is correct in what he says.
There are no tabs with "as recorded....
As close as you come is Aloha No Honolulu as arranged by Jules Ah See.

The B11th Sand is tabbed the same way that Jerry played it most of the time.
A lot of people have played that tabbed version of Sand.
Jerry did vary his versions of the songs he played.
I suppose he got tired of playing a song the same way.
That of course is an educated guess.  undecided

Some of Jerry's tabs are complicated, but as Dave says it develops your ability.
You can also play his tabs in a simplified way.

He sure did Don. Once in Winchester we were jaming in my room and Jerry played Sand in key of C in C#m tuning on Dwight Harris' JB frypan..  I believe George Kinsmen was on rhythem guitar and Norm Kunz was on the doghouse bass. cc

I had the 1953 Oahu sheet music w* paniolo29 what had the note argmt, Am7th,as Oahu called C6, c#M argmt, and Amaj high bass argmt. That intrigued Jerry quite a bit. He then retuned his C, A, and G strgs and played the song in C# m tuning. sounded pretty but beyond me. Too much work  cc.  Of course Jerry did not pay any attention th the argmt, just played it.
