Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association... encouraging the study, teaching and performance of the Hawaiian Steel Guitar
Membership Benefits
Our Quarterly Magazine
Four times a year -- Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring -- HSGA produces a 16 to 20 page magazine for members filled with steel guitar news, members views, steel player profiles, teaching articles, events calendar, reviews of recordings and books, Hawaiiana and photos of HSGA players. Each issue contains steel guitar instructional tips and a tablature Hawaiian Steel song arrangement by such steel guitar notables as Alan Akaka, L.T. Zinn and John Ely. HSGA members are encouraged to submit opinions, event information, gossip, photos, and "watevah" to the quarterly editor John Ely. Remember, "This is YOUR magazine -- come, use it!"

Discounts at our Annual Joliet Convention!
HSGA holds an annual convention for its members each Fall, in Joliet, Illinois, a short distance from Chicago. More than 150 members come from all over the world for four fun and festive days of steel playing and camaraderie. Guest steel guitar artists from Hawai`i are invited to add an authentic "sound of the Islands" to the daily "show time". Each year the convention ends with a huge Hawaiian luau! Members get hotel discounts, and other member activities are planned in the beautiful and historic Heritage Corridor where Joliet is located.

Biennial Hawai`i Convention!
In May of odd-numbered years, the HSGA holds an additional Hawai`i convention at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel in Waikiki where HSGA members receive special hotel rates. The Queen Kapiolani Hotel is located just one block from the beach! For this gathering, HSGA programs a full week of public steel guitar concerts on the island of Oahu, starting with the free-to-the-public Hawaiian Steel Guitar Ho`olaule`a which features an international All Star group of some of the world's finest Hawaiian steel players. Members have "play days" of their own around the Island, and three full days of steel playing at the hotel.

Internet Goodies!
HSGA members get the status of "Big Kahuna" on our HSGA Forum. Being a "Big Kahuna" gives you access to discussions, music, photos and video not available to the general public.
