New Directors Elected at Membership Meeting(reprinted from the Fall 96 Newsletter)
HSGA Officers and Directors for the two-year period, July 1, 1996 through June 30, 1998 were elected at the annual General Membership meeting held in September, during the Joliet Convention. We welcome new Directors Bernie Endaya of Glendale, California, Mike "Malahini" Scott of Toronto, Canada, and Doug Smith of Medway, Ohio. Don Weber of Joliet, Illinois, appointed last year to fill out Frank Miller's term and take over Chairmanship of the Joliet convention, was duly elected to a full term. Re-elected to a second term were Officers Alan L. Akaka, President; Jerry Byrd, Vice President; and Edward Punua, Secretary-Treasurer, and Directors John Marsden and Lorene Ruymar. HSGA member Tom Ikehata of Tokyo, Japan was welcomed as Japan Coordinator of membership and HSGA activities. The new Board of Directors held its first meeting in September, during the annual HSGA convention in Joliet, Illinois.
