HSGA Now Tax Exempt in the U.S.
HSGA is pleased to announce receipt of a 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporation status in the United States from the Internal Revenue Service. What does this mean to members? U.S. members can probably declare their 1997-98 club dues as "donation" on their tax returns. (We always recommend that you check your tax accountant, first.) What this means to our organization is the ability to seek funding from Grant providers for special educational and community service projects. The new tax status was granted in March 1997.
"We're very happy about this," said HSGA President, Alan Akaka. "We can now anticipate broadening both our scholarship and our communication base."
