Aloha Joe's Steel Guitar Hour | Where to Find the Recordings "Hula Joe and the Hutjumpers"Hula Joe and the Hut Jumpers How many of you can remember when Honolulu had those legendary swing music nightclubs, "Club Pago Pago" and "La Hula Rhumba?" I know, most of you are much to young to recall those days (wink), but if you ever wondered what happened to that Polynesian swing style of music, you need look no further than this debut CD from one of Honolulu's busiest bands. Frontman Zanuck Lindsey has assembled an impressive team of first-string musicians that include a fine horn section as well as STEEL, featuring HSGA's very own Greg "Rocky" Sardinha. Check out these titles: "Grasshackin'," "In Your Hut," "Slack Key Boogie Woogie," "Swingin' with Duke," (Kahana-moku) and of course, "Swingtime In Honolulu." This stuff really makes you want to grab a partner and "Swing It." Also appearing in several cuts are names familiar to the HSGA family - Casey and Hiram Olsen. Greg and Casey turn in fine steel performances, weaving their licks throughout some very involved arrangements. The sound engineers certainly had a challenging job in balancing the dynamics of a full horn section with the more subtle patterns of the non-pedal Hawaiian steel guitar.
